Every summer, the sky above Marbella erupts in colour during the Marbella International Fireworks Competition. While you can watch from the beach or a chiringuito, the best seats are on the water. A private yacht gives you an unobstructed view, a chilled drink in hand, and zero crowds. Here’s how to plan your evening.
Where to watch the fireworks from a yacht
The fireworks are launched from a barge near the coast between Puerto Banús and Marbella Marina. The prime viewing spots are:
- Outside Puerto Banús harbour – anchor just beyond the breakwater. You’ll be close enough to feel the boom but safe from the debris. Depths are 10–15m, good holding.
- Marbella Bay – a wider view, especially if you want to see the reflections on the water. Approximately 1 NM from the launch point.
- Cabopino – quieter, but further (3 NM). Only recommended if you want a longer cruise before the show.
All our boats depart from Puerto Banús, so you can be at the best spot in under 10 minutes.
Which yacht to choose
For a fireworks charter, you don’t need a full-day boat. A 2-hour evening cruise is perfect. Our Tier A boats are ideal:
- Astondoa 40 (12.5m, 9 guests) – €749 for 2 hours
- Azimut 39 (12.5m, 11 guests) – €749 for 2 hours
Both include skipper, fuel, drinks (water, soft drinks, beer, white wine, cava), and snacks. VAT is included. For larger groups, the Mangusta 80 (24m, 12 guests) is available from €4,719 for 4 hours and includes a jet ski.
What time to book
Fireworks usually start around 22:30–23:00 (depending on the event schedule). We recommend a 2-hour charter from 21:30. This gives you time to:
- Board at Puerto Banús
- Cruise to your chosen spot (5–10 minutes)
- Settle in with a drink
- Watch the 20–30 minute display
- Return to port
If you want to make a longer evening of it, book 4 hours and include a sunset cruise along the Golden Mile before the show.

Practical tips for fireworks night
- Book early – fireworks dates sell out 2–3 weeks ahead. Contact us via WhatsApp for availability.
- Dress for the evening – August evenings on the water can be breezy. A light jacket or jumper is wise.
- Arrive on time – boarding is at Puerto Banús. Allow 15 minutes to park and find the boat.
- No glass on the water – we use plastic cups for safety. Don’t worry, your cava still tastes great.
- Check the weather – if high winds or thunderstorms are forecast, the event may be postponed. We’ll notify you.
Other summer events in Marbella
If you’re visiting in August, the fireworks are just one highlight. Other water-friendly events include the Marbella Summer Festival concerts at the Auditorio de Marbella, and the Puerto Banús Boat Show in September. A yacht charter lets you combine any of these with a day on the sea.
Frequently asked questions
When are the Marbella International Fireworks?
The Marbella International Fireworks Competition typically runs on selected Saturdays in August. Exact dates vary each year, so check the official Marbella events calendar or contact us for the current schedule.
Can I watch the fireworks from a yacht in Puerto Banús?
Yes. The best view is from just outside Puerto Banús harbour, where you can anchor or drift. Our boats depart from Puerto Banús, so you can be on the water within minutes. We recommend arriving 30–45 minutes before the display starts.
Which yacht is best for a fireworks charter?
For small groups, the Astondoa 40 or Azimut 39 (9–11 guests, €749 for 2 hours) are ideal. Larger groups up to 12 can take the Mangusta 80 (€4,719 for 4 hours, includes a jet ski). All include skipper, drinks, and snacks.
How long do the fireworks last?
Each display lasts roughly 20–30 minutes. However, we recommend a 2-hour charter to allow time to cruise out, find a good spot, and enjoy the show without rushing back.
Is it safe to watch fireworks from a yacht?
Yes. Our licensed skippers know the safe zones and keep a respectful distance from the firing area. All boats have safety equipment and insurance. You'll have a clear, unobstructed view from the water.
What is included in the charter price?
Every charter includes a licensed skipper, fuel, water, soft drinks, beer, white wine, cava, light snacks, insurance, safety equipment, and Spanish VAT (21%). No hidden costs.
Can I book a yacht for a private fireworks party?
Absolutely. You can bring your own playlist via Bluetooth, and we provide drinks and snacks. For larger groups, the Mangusta 80 or Azimut 58 Flybridge are popular choices. Contact us via WhatsApp for availability.
What happens if the fireworks are cancelled due to weather?
If the event is cancelled by the organisers, we offer a full refund or the option to reschedule. If you cancel less than 48 hours before, standard terms apply.
