Luxury yacht rental in Marbella means stepping onto an 18-to-30-metre crewed yacht at Puerto Banús, being greeted by a stewardess with a chilled glass, and handing the day over to a professional crew while you and your guests do nothing but enjoy it. Day charters start at €2,400 and scale up to €18,000 for the largest superyachts. Weekly charters begin around €25,000 plus expenses.

Where the line is

Yacht charter in Marbella exists on a continuum, and "luxury" is the top end of it. Practical breakpoints:

Our fleet — luxury-tier amenities at the 12.5 m size class

We currently run two crewed 12.5 m flybridge motor yachts at €749 → €2,299 per charter — both with cream-leather interiors, AC saloon, two cabins, and the same skipper-fuel-drinks-insurance-VAT inclusion as larger luxury yachts. See Astondoa 40 and Azimut 39 for full specs. For 18 m+ proper superyachts (weekly charters, APA model, full crew with chef) we can source through partners — message us with dates and group size.

Weekly charter and the APA model

Multi-day and weekly charters on 24 m+ yachts use the global APA system. The base charter fee covers the yacht, captain and crew salaries. On top of that you pre-pay an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) of 25-30% which funds fuel, marina fees, food, drink and any extra crew expenses during the trip. Captain accounts for every euro and refunds the unused portion at the end. A 24 m yacht for a week in low season: ~€25,000 + ~€7,000 APA. Same yacht in August: ~€40,000 + €10,000 APA.

The crew and what they actually do

Captain: commands the yacht — navigation, anchoring, all decisions affecting safety. Holds at least a 200 GT commercial licence. Your single point of contact for the trip.

Stewardess: guest service. Welcomes you on board, mixes drinks, plates the food, handles cabin turn-down on overnight charters, keeps the saloon and decks tidy. The stewardess role on a luxury yacht is the difference between "nice boat" and "luxury experience".

Chef: from 24 m up. You fill in a preference sheet before the charter — favourite cuisines, dietary requirements, allergies — and the chef builds a tailored menu for the trip. Provisioning is done from local markets (Mercado de Puerto Banús, La Cañada).

Deckhand / mate: handles lines, fenders, tender operation, water-toys deployment, and keeps the exterior immaculate. Often a deck cadet building sea time toward their captain qualification.

Where you can go

Day charters cover the Costa del Sol — Sotogrande in the west, Cabopino in the east, with the Golden Mile coast in between. A long day with an early start reaches Gibraltar by boat from Marbella (100 NM round trip, only viable on flat-sea days). Overnight luxury charters extend the cruising window along the Marbella coast and the Strait. Weekly bookings out of Marbella typically anchor the itinerary around Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile stops most guests want to see.

The booking process

  1. WhatsApp inquiry — dates, group size, length (day/weekend/week), special requirements.
  2. Shortlist — we send 2-4 specific yachts with photos, plans, crew bios, day rates and any APA estimates.
  3. Hold — preferred yacht is held for 48 hours while you decide.
  4. Contract — MYBA Worldwide standard charter agreement, 50% deposit at signing.
  5. Preference sheet — sent 2-3 weeks ahead, captures food/drink/itinerary preferences.
  6. Boarding — exact pier number sent 24 hours ahead, balance paid on or before the day.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a luxury yacht in Marbella?

Generally 18 metres and above with captain plus stewardess minimum, hospitality-fitted interior, and water toys. Above 24 m you're in superyacht territory with chef and multiple staterooms.

How much is a luxury yacht charter per day?

€2,400 for an 18 m yacht in low season, up to €18,000 for a megayacht in August. Weekly starts ~€25,000 for a 24 m yacht plus APA expenses.

What does 'crewed charter' actually include?

Captain (navigation), stewardess (guest service), chef from 24 m up (custom menus), deckhand (lines, tender, water toys). Tipping 10-15% of charter price at the end is customary.

Can we go anywhere?

Day charters cover Estepona to Cabopino along the Marbella coast. Long days reach Gibraltar (see our dedicated guide). Overnight and weekly charters extend the cruising window along the Costa del Sol.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Day charters: 2-4 weeks for peak Saturdays. Weekly charters on specific yachts in August: 3-6 months. The 30 m+ market is small (8-10 yachts) and sells out early.
