The Marbella Polo Cup at the Santa María Polo Club in Sotogrande is one of the summer’s most glamorous sporting events. With a bit of planning, you can combine a morning yacht charter from Puerto Banús with an afternoon watching world-class polo – then return for a sunset cruise along the Costa del Sol. Here’s a practical same-day itinerary using our fleet.
How the Itinerary Works
The Santa María Polo Club is 30 NM south of Marbella, about a 45-minute drive from Puerto Banús. Matches typically kick off at 16:00 and finish by 18:00. That leaves the morning free for a 4-hour yacht charter (10:00–14:00) or a shorter 2-hour trip (10:00–12:00). After the match, drive back to Puerto Banús for an evening cruise along the Golden Mile. All our charters depart from Puerto Banús Marina – see our full boat list.
Best Boats for a Polo-Day Charter
For a morning charter before the polo, the Astondoa 40 (12.5m, 9 pax) or Azimut 39 (12.5m, 11 pax) are ideal at €749 for 2 hours or €2,299 for 8 hours. If you want a longer day on the water, the Mangusta 80 (24m, 12 pax) costs from €4,719 for a minimum 4 hours and includes a free jet ski. All prices include skipper, fuel, drinks, snacks, insurance, and 21% Spanish VAT.
| Boat | Length | Max Pax | Price (2h) | Price (8h) |

| Astondoa 40 | 12.5m | 9 | €749 | €2,299 |

Where to Watch the Polo
The Santa María Polo Club is at Sotogrande, a 45-minute drive from Puerto Banús. Tickets are sold by the club – we don’t sell them. The atmosphere is relaxed: think champagne, summer dresses, and linen suits. The club has a restaurant and bar. After the match, head back to the coast for a late dip at Cala Cortés or a drink at Puerto Banús.
Evening Cruise Options After the Polo
If you’ve booked a full-day charter, your skipper can take you from Puerto Banús to Estepona (10 NM west) or along the Golden Mile for sunset. The Azimut 58 Flybridge (17.6m, 12 pax) or Ferretti 94 (29m, 12 pax) are great for evening entertaining. For something smaller, the Speedboat (7m, 6 pax) is a fun option. All depart from Puerto Banús.
