Landing at Málaga Airport (AGP) and heading straight to a Marbella yacht charter is one of the smoothest transitions on the Costa del Sol. The airport is just 45 km from Puerto Banús — roughly a 40-minute drive. This guide covers every transfer option, from private taxis to rental cars, plus how to match your arrival time with the right boat from our fleet.
Málaga Airport to Puerto Banús: Distance & Time
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is the main gateway for the Costa del Sol. From the arrivals hall to the marina at Puerto Banús, the distance is exactly 45 km. By car, the journey takes 35–50 minutes depending on traffic. The route follows the A-7 motorway along the coast, passing through Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Fuengirola. Peak season (June–September) can add 10–15 minutes, especially on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.
Transfer Options: Cost & Convenience
- Private taxi: €65–€90 one-way. Pre-book via Welcome Pickups or local companies. Door-to-door, no waiting.
- Shared shuttle: €15–€25 per person. Companies like ALSA or Suntransfers. 45–60 min journey. Good for solo travellers.
- Rental car: From €30/day with Avis or Hertz at AGP. Parking at Puerto Banús costs €20–€30/day. Useful if you plan to explore Marbella after the charter.
- Train + bus: Not recommended. Cercanías train goes to Fuengirola (€6), then a bus to Marbella (€3). Total 1.5–2 hours.
Best Boats for a Same-Day Arrival Charter
If you land in the morning (09:00–11:00), you have time for a full-day charter. Our Tier A boats — the Astondoa 40 (12.5m, 9 pax) and Azimut 39 (12.5m, 11 pax) — cost €749 for 2 hours up to €2,299 for 8 hours. Both depart from Puerto Banús and include a licensed skipper, fuel, soft drinks, beer, white wine, cava, light snacks, insurance, and 21% VAT.
For a larger group (up to 12 pax), the Mangusta 80 (24m) is our flagship. It requires a minimum 4-hour booking at €4,719 and includes a free jet ski. Three variants are available: grey, white, and the standard model. All depart from Puerto Banús.
If you arrive in the afternoon (14:00–16:00), consider a sunset charter on the Pershing 46 (14m, 10 pax) or the Fairline Targa 12m (12m, 10 pax). Pricing for these is available on request via WhatsApp.
What to Do with Your Luggage
Most of our yachts have small cabins or storage compartments where you can leave bags during the charter. For large suitcases, we recommend leaving them at your hotel or using a left-luggage service near the port. Puerto Banús has several luggage storage points, including Locker Marbella on Calle Ribera, about 5 minutes from our dock. Alternatively, ask your taxi driver to drop your bags at your accommodation before heading to the marina.
Local Tips for a Seamless Day
- Book your taxi 24–48 hours in advance during high season (July–August).
- Arrive at the marina 15 minutes before departure to meet your skipper and stow belongings.
- If you want to stock up on extra snacks or drinks, ask your driver for a short stop at a Mercadona or Carrefour.
- After the charter, explore the Golden Mile or dine at one of the chiringuitos on the beach — many are a short walk from Puerto Banús.
