August is the busiest charter month in Marbella, with sea temperatures peaking at 23-25°C, near-zero rain risk and Puerto Banús quay packed by mid-morning. Our fleet runs at 85-95% capacity through the month, so this guide covers what to expect on price, weather, availability and which slots disappear first. If you want the short version: book mid-week if you can, lock weekends in 14+ days ahead, and start with the main Boat Rental Marbella hub for the full fleet overview.

August pricing — what stays fixed and what doesn't

Our headline pricing does not surge in August. The Astondoa 40 and Azimut 39 stay at €749 for 2 hours and €2,299 for 8 hours, all-inclusive of skipper, fuel, drinks, snacks, insurance and 21% IVA. The Mangusta 80 (both white and grey variants) remains €4,719 for the 4-hour minimum with a jet ski included free. Pricing for other boats — Pershing 46, Fairline Targa 12m, Ferretti 94, Canados 86, Maiora 26m and the rest — stays consistent year-round and is shared on WhatsApp request.

What does change in August is the mix of inventory available. Discounted last-minute windows that appear in May or October do not exist in August: every slot books at standard rates. The cheapest entry-level slot — Tier A 2-hour mornings — disappears first. See the full fleet and pricing on the homepage for comparisons.

Sea, weather and wind in August

August is Marbella's warmest month. Air temperatures sit at 29-32°C inland and 26-29°C on the water, with sea temperatures averaging 23-25°C and peaking around 26°C in the third week. Rain risk is under 2% on any given day. The dominant pattern is glassy water from 09:00 to roughly 13:00, then thermal winds pick up.

  • Morning (09:00-13:00): winds under 5 knots, flat water, best for paddleboarding and first-time guests.
  • Afternoon (14:00-18:00): Poniente (west) or Levante (east) winds at 12-18 knots, occasionally 20+.
  • Evening (18:00-21:30): winds drop, sea calms, sunset 21:15-21:45 early August.

Skippers adapt routing daily. On Levante days the fleet runs west toward Estepona and Sotogrande for shelter; on Poniente days it heads east toward Cabopino and Cala del Faro. Cancellations for weather are under 3% across the month.

Which boats book out first

The booking order across August is predictable. Entry-tier boats go first because of the €749/2h price point, then the headline Mangustas, then the mid-size sport boats.

For the full list, the Mariah SX21, Speedboat and Dubhe are good fallback options for smaller groups — they have higher mid-August availability than the flagship boats.

Peak dates within August

Three weekends are functionally booked solid 10+ days out: 8-9 August, 15-16 August (Asunción bank holiday weekend), and 22-23 August. The 15 August public holiday in particular pulls in domestic Spanish demand on top of international visitors. If you can shift to a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, availability is 20-30% easier and you get the same boats and pricing.

Time slots — which to choose

August demands you pay attention to time of day. The 10:00-13:00 slot is the most-booked because of flat water and cooler temperatures. The 18:00-20:00 sunset window is the second most popular, especially for couples and small groups. The 13:00-16:00 midday slot is the easiest to book but the hottest — pick a boat with proper shade if you go midday (Mangusta 80, Canados 86, Azimut 58 Flybridge).

What's included — no upsells

Every August charter includes:

  • Licensed Spanish skipper familiar with the Marbella coast
  • All fuel and harbour fees
  • Cold drinks: water, soft drinks, beer, white wine and cava
  • Light snacks (chips, olives, cured ham)
  • Insurance and full safety equipment
  • 21% Spanish IVA

There are no fuel surcharges, no skipper tips required, no port fees added at the end. WhatsApp is the fastest way to confirm — see the homepage for the booking number.

Routes our skippers run in August

August routing prioritises shaded anchorages and calm water. The standard half-day loop is Puerto Banús → Río Verde → Golden Mile → Cala del Faro → return, with two swim stops. Full-day charters extend to Cabopino in the east or Estepona in the west. Sunset trips usually stay between Puerto Banús and Marbella Marina with a 30-minute anchor stop off the Golden Mile for cava and the light show against La Concha. See more on the main site.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book a Marbella yacht charter for August?

For August weekends, book 14-21 days ahead — our Tier A boats (Astondoa 40, Azimut 39) and the Mangusta 80 fleet sell out fastest on Fridays and Saturdays. Mid-week slots (Tuesday-Thursday) usually have availability within 5-7 days. For 15 August (Asunción bank holiday), aim for 30+ days lead time. WhatsApp us to check live availability.

What is the sea temperature in Marbella during August?

August is the warmest month, with sea temperatures averaging 23-25°C and peaking around 26°C in the third week. Air temperatures sit at 29-32°C inland and 26-29°C on the water. The water is warm enough for hours of swimming without a wetsuit — most guests jump in at every anchorage stop along the Golden Mile or off Cala del Faro.

Which boats book out first in August?

The Astondoa 40 and Azimut 39 go first because of the €749/2h entry price. The Mangusta 80 (white and grey variants) sells out next — they are the most photographed boats in Puerto Banús. Catamarans like the Lagoon 380 are popular for groups wanting stability. Larger yachts (Ferretti 94, Canados 86, Maiora 26m) have better mid-week availability.

Are prices higher in August than other months?

Our headline rates stay the same year-round — Tier A starts at €749/2h, Mangusta 80 from €4,719/4h. What changes in August is availability: discounted last-minute slots disappear and the cheapest morning windows go first. Booking early locks in the standard rate. Pricing on other boats stays consistent via WhatsApp quote.

What is the weather like for sailing in August?

Mornings are typically glassy with winds under 5 knots until around 13:00. Afternoon Poniente or Levante winds build to 12-18 knots, occasionally gusting 20+ on Levante days. Cancellations from weather are rare in August — under 3% of bookings. Skippers route around any chop, usually staying west toward Estepona on Levante afternoons.

Can we anchor and swim during an August charter?

Yes — every charter includes anchor stops for swimming. Popular August spots are Río Verde (5 minutes from Puerto Banús), Cala del Faro near Marbella town, and Cala Cortés toward Cabopino. Your skipper picks the calmest bay based on wind direction that day. Most guests do 2-3 swim stops on a half-day charter.

Is sunset cruising worth it in August?

Sunset is the best time slot in August — temperatures drop to a comfortable 25-27°C, winds calm down after 19:30, and La Concha mountain glows orange. Sunset sits at around 21:15-21:45 in early-to-mid August. The 18:00-20:00 evening slot is our most-booked window after weekend mornings. Cava and snacks included, as on every charter.

What happens if there is a heatwave during my charter?

August heatwaves (35°C+) actually make charters more comfortable — the breeze offshore is 5-8°C cooler than the beach. All our boats have shaded saloons or biminis, and the cold drinks fridge is restocked before departure. We recommend SPF 50, hats and the 10:00 or 18:00 slots rather than midday on extreme-heat days.
