Crossing the finish line of the Marbella Ironman is a monumental achievement – but the real work begins in the 24 hours after. Your muscles ache, your joints protest, and the last thing you want is a long walk or a hard chair. A Marbella Ironman recovery yacht charter offers the opposite: gentle movement, cold drinks, and the restorative hum of the sea. No impact, no crowds, just you and your crew floating on the Mediterranean.

Why a yacht charter beats the hotel pool

A swimming pool is chlorinated and often crowded. A hotel spa can feel clinical. A yacht, by contrast, gives you a private, open-air recovery zone with zero impact on your joints. The gentle roll of the boat at anchor is a natural muscle relaxant, and the sea air – clean, salt-tinged, 22–26°C in summer – helps reduce inflammation. Plus, you control the schedule: nap in the saloon, swim when you’re ready, eat whenever you like.

The best boats for post-race recovery

Your body has just done 226 km (or 113 km for the half). You don’t need a speedboat. You need comfort. Our Tier A boats – the Astondoa 40 (12.5 m, 9 pax) and Azimut 39 (12.5 m, 11 pax) – are ideal. Both have large flybridge sun pads, a shaded saloon with sofas, and a small galley for snacks. From €749 for 2 hours, they’re the most accessible option for a small group of finishers and supporters.

If you’re celebrating with a bigger crew (up to 12 pax), the Mangusta 80 (24 m) is a Tier B boat from €4,719 for 4 hours, and includes a jet ski – should anyone feel energetic enough to ride it. For something in between, the Fairline Targa 12 m or Pershing 46 are available on request via WhatsApp.

Where to anchor: calm coves for gentle swimming

After the race, you want flat water. From Puerto Banús, your skipper can take you to:

All three are within 15–25 minutes from the marina. Your skipper will adjust speed to your comfort – no sudden accelerations.

What’s included: no hidden extras

Every charter includes a licensed skipper, fuel, insurance, and 21% IVA. You also get unlimited water, soft drinks, beer, white wine, cava, and light snacks (chips, olives, nuts). There’s no extra charge for ice, cups, or towels. You can bring your own recovery food – protein shakes, fruit, electrolyte drinks – no problem.

For Tier B boats (Mangusta 80), a jet ski is included free. For all other boats, jet ski rental can be arranged on request.

Sample itinerary: a 4-hour recovery cruise

Most post-race groups book 4 hours (€1,299 on Tier A). Here’s a typical flow:

TimeActivity
14:00Board at Puerto Banús. Welcome drink (cava or water). Skipper briefing.
14:15Gentle cruise east to Cabopino (7 knots, 20 min). Sunbathe or nap on the flybridge.

Frequently asked questions

Can I charter a yacht immediately after finishing the Marbella Ironman?

Yes. Most charters depart from Puerto Banús, which is a 15-minute drive from the Ironman finish line on the Golden Mile. You can book a later start (e.g. 14:00) to allow for the race, medals, and a quick shower before boarding.

Which boats are best for a small recovery group?

The Azimut 39 (11 pax) or Astondoa 40 (9 pax) are ideal for 4–8 people. Both are Tier A boats from €749 for 2 hours, with a flybridge for sunbathing and a shaded saloon for naps.

Is the water warm enough for swimming in October (late Ironman date)?

Yes. Marbella’s sea temperature in October averages 20–22°C. Wetsuits are optional. We recommend a short dip at Cala Cortés, where the water is sheltered and shallow.

What if someone in my group doesn’t want to swim?

Every boat has a shaded saloon with seating and a bimini top. They can relax with a drink, read, or nap while others swim. The skipper will anchor in a calm spot so the boat remains stable.

Can we bring our own recovery food (protein shakes, etc.)?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring your own cooler bag. Our standard charter includes light snacks (chips, olives, nuts) and drinks, but there’s no restriction on personal food.

How long does it take to get from Puerto Banús to a quiet anchorage?

About 15–20 minutes. We recommend heading east to Cabopino (1.5 NM) or west to Cala del Faro (2 NM) – both are sheltered coves with minimal boat traffic.

Do you offer half-day charters for post-race recovery?

Yes. Tier A boats start at 2 hours (€749), but most groups choose 4 hours (€1,299) – enough time to cruise, swim, eat, and return without feeling rushed. Longer charters (6h or 8h) are also available.

Can we cancel if I’m too sore after the race?

Our cancellation policy allows free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure. If you’re unsure, book a flexible charter and confirm the day before. Contact us via WhatsApp for last-minute changes.
