A Marbella by night yacht cruise from Puerto Banús is the most relaxed way to see the Costa del Sol's skyline — La Concha mountain turning pink behind you, the Golden Mile villas firing up their pool lights, and the marina's superyachts blazing as you slip back to the pontoon. Charters run 2-8 hours with a licensed skipper, drinks and snacks already on board, starting at €749 for the Astondoa 40. Why evening beats midday
Midday charters are brilliant for swimming, but the water is busiest, the sun is hardest, and the skyline is washed-out. Cast off after 18:00 and three things change at once: the wind dies, the swell flattens, and the colour temperature goes from harsh white to molten gold. By 21:00 in summer you're anchored in mirror-smooth water with the Sierra Blanca silhouetted behind Marbella town. We rarely see two boats within sight of each other on an evening run.
Sunset times and when to leave the dock
Sunset in Marbella moves a lot across the year. Here's a rough planning table — confirm the exact minute with us when you book.
| Month | Sunset (local) | Suggested departure | Air temp at 21:00 |
|---|---|---|---|
| April | ~20:50 | 19:00 | 17-19°C |
| May | ~21:20 | 19:30 | 19-21°C |
| June | ~21:45 | 20:00 | 22-24°C |
| July | ~21:50 | 20:00 | 24-26°C |
| August | ~21:25 | 19:30 | 23-25°C |
| September | ~20:45 | 19:00 | 21-23°C |
| October | ~19:50 | 18:00 | 18-20°C |
A 2-hour slot timed so you're on open water 30 minutes before sunset gives you golden hour, blue hour and the lit-up return — the holy trinity for photos.
The route we usually run
From Puerto Banús we head east along the Golden Mile at 18-22 knots, slowing off the Marbella Club for a first look at the villas. Most evenings we anchor for 20-30 minutes in Río Verde — calm water, sand bottom, perfect for a quick swim and the first round of cava. After sunset we cruise slowly back past the Puente Romano lights and into Puerto Banús, where the megayachts moored stern-to are a spectacle in themselves. Longer charters (4-8h) push east to Cabopino and the Cala del Faro lighthouse before turning home.
Wind permitting we'll happily swap in a Sotogrande sundowner run heading west — see the dedicated sunset cruise page for that route.
Which boat suits an evening charter?

- Azimut 39 — 12.5m, up to 11 guests. Same Tier A pricing, sportier hull, better for a quick run to Cabopino.
- Azimut 58 Flybridge — 17.6m, 12 guests. Upper deck dining with 360° views; price on request.
- Mangusta 80 — 24m, 12 guests, €4,719/4h, free jet ski. Statement charter for special occasions.

What's included — and what to bring
Every charter ships with a licensed skipper, fuel, full insurance, all safety kit, light snacks and a generous drinks package: water, soft drinks, beer, white wine and cava. Spanish IVA at 21% is already in the headline price; there are no surprise marina fees. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunglasses (yes, even at sunset — the low light off the water is bright) and a light jumper for the return leg. Bluetooth audio is standard on every boat; build a playlist before you leave the hotel.
Food, music and special occasions
The included snacks are honest — olives, jamón, crisps, fresh fruit — but if you want a proper dinner on board we can arrange catering from a Puerto Banús kitchen with 24 hours' notice. Birthdays, proposals, hen and stag nights all work brilliantly on an evening slot; see our birthday charter guide and anniversary ideas for setups we've run before. We won't fake-decorate the boat with cheap bunting — tell us what matters and we'll do it properly.
Weather, sea state and the cancellation policy
Marbella enjoys 320+ sunny days a year and the Levante and Poniente winds rarely top 15 knots on summer evenings. If conditions turn unsafe — typically a Levante above 20 knots or a thunderstorm forecast — the skipper makes the call and we reschedule for free or refund 100%. Light chop is normal and not a cancellation reason. We do not run in lightning.
How to book
Message WhatsApp with date, group size and rough departure time. We hold the boat 24 hours, take a deposit, and send the Puerto Banús meeting-point pin the day before. For August weekends book 5-7 days out; shoulder-season slots are often available same-day. The full fleet is here if you'd rather pick the boat first.
Frequently asked questions
What time does a Marbella by night yacht cruise leave Puerto Banús?
Most evening charters cast off between 18:00 and 19:30 so you reach open water before sunset, which falls around 21:00-22:00 from May to September and closer to 19:00 in winter. A 2-hour slot timed to golden hour is the most popular pick. We confirm exact departure once you message us with your preferred date — the skipper adjusts to that day's sunset and sea state.
How much does an evening cruise cost?
Tier A boats — the Astondoa 40 and Azimut 39 — start at €749 for 2 hours, fully inclusive of skipper, fuel, drinks, snacks and 21% IVA. The Mangusta 80 (and grey/white sisters) runs from €4,719 for a 4-hour minimum and ships with a free jet ski. Larger flybridges like the Azimut 58, Ferretti 94 and Canados 86 are priced on request via WhatsApp.
What's the typical route for a night cruise?
We leave Puerto Banús heading east along the Golden Mile, drift past Marbella Marina and the Río Verde river mouth, and either anchor for swimming and drinks or continue toward Cabopino before turning back at dusk. The return leg through Puerto Banús after dark — superyachts lit up, restaurants buzzing — is the highlight most guests remember. Routes flex with wind and your priorities.
Is it cold on the water after sunset?
Air temperatures sit at 22-26°C through summer evenings and the sea stays around 21-24°C, so it's pleasant in shorts and a t-shirt until roughly 22:30. Once you're moving home at 20+ knots the apparent wind cools things fast, so we always tell guests to pack a light jumper or windbreaker. In shoulder season (April, October) bring an extra layer.
Can we swim during an evening charter?
Yes — we usually drop anchor in Río Verde or off the Marbella Club beach for 20-30 minutes of warm-water swimming before the light goes. The sea is calmest at this hour and visibility is still good. Bring a towel and swimwear; the boat carries a swim ladder, snorkels and an inflatable mat. Night swimming after dark isn't permitted for safety and insurance reasons.
What's included in the price?
Every Boat Rental Marbella charter includes a licensed skipper, fuel, insurance, all safety equipment, light snacks and a full drinks package — water, soft drinks, beer, white wine and cava. Spanish IVA (21%) is already baked into the quoted price. There are no hidden fuel surcharges or marina fees added at the dock. Custom catering or a hostess can be arranged with 24 hours' notice.
Which boat is best for an evening cruise?
For couples or small groups the Astondoa 40 offers the best value at €749/2h. Groups of 8-12 wanting wow-factor lean toward the Mangusta 80 or the Ferretti 94 — both have huge flybridges that are unmatched for sunset views. For something quieter under sail, the Lagoon 380 catamaran is the only multihull in our fleet.
How do I book a Marbella by night cruise?

We hold the boat for 24 hours while you confirm, take a deposit by card or transfer, and send a meeting-point pin for Puerto Banús the day before. Same-day bookings are often possible in shoulder season; for August weekends, book 5-7 days ahead. See the full fleet here.
